Once upon a time I had a major problem with pride. Still do. I was in second grade; I was playing in the Upward Basketball League. I had pride…a lot of pride, especially when I got a bible verse correct and got a star on my ummm…uniform. I don’t know what exactly made me so prideful of my stars, but it nearly got me taken out of a game. After that I started patting people on the back when they, made a score.

When I played park baseball two years ago we played with the older kids and it was my first time not playing on my friends’ dads team. I was used to pitching and playing shortstop. Because I was good at outfield I was put there all year. I was mad all year because it wasn’t an important position and I was better than everyone in the infield. I was proud of being a good baseball player and it kept me from enjoying the season. Pride is useful because if you take pride in something you will do your best. Your pride can get in the way when something isn’t going your way or you do something because of your pride

In the book a “Man Called Horse” it is similar to real life because sometimes you have to forget about how you feel and think about how others feel. One time when I was at school I saw my friend and she was having a bad day and since I was having a good day because I had gotten good grades in one of my classes. My friend was upset for a couple of weeks and since she had only told me what was wrong then I had to help her. While I was helping her I was so concerned about how she was and if she was ok that my grades started slipping and I kept talking to her that I would forget to do my homework. Pride is valuable when your team wins a game or when someone gets married in your family or when something good happens to your friends. You can lose pride when someone in your family dies or when something bad happens at school.
