When i was young I recieved a gift from my brother. It meant a lot to me. When my brother drew it for me i was sick with walking pneumonia. I was sad because i couldnt play outside with all of my friends. My brother came to my side and sat with me and drew a picture and made me laugh. He made me feel better and like a had a friend.

The Gifts I receive are very special, even better when they cost more, I won’t lie, but there are some gifts that just top everything. These gifts are the ones not bought with money, just ones that are special from a relative or parent. I remember a few years ago I got something from a grandpa I never met. It was a carved wood owl. It was made by him. My dad gave it to me because I had always looked at it. Even to this day that owl still sits on a shelf in my room. It reminds me of him.

I got a present from my grandmother at Christmas. This gift was a manger scene with a star on a rod that an angel fell down. This is a gift that you could get at the dollar store but had tons of meaning to my life. Being a Christian this showed me that she cared for me and wishes me good luck for the rest of my life.

Powerful, Free Gift
I recieved a jar from my brother. It was to see howw good I can manage my money. He tought me how to save and spend. Instead of spending all of my money at the same time. He tought me how to save a bit of money, and give some to charity.

During and after hurricane Katrina, there was no plumbing. You would go around and see people using the bathroom in a garbage bag or grocery bag. So my friend and I were listening to music and we heard a funny song. A guy used the bathroom in the back part of the toilet and it came out. We thought it would work so we put pool water in the back and it worked. We started spreading the word around and it wasn’t so stinky anymore. The simple gift of flushing your toilet was all I needed.

Inexpensive, good gifts
By: Calina Burst, 1st period

The one thing that cost little, but meant a lot to me was a painting from my stepsister, Becky. She gave it to me for my 14th birthday, and it didn’t cost much, but it meant a lot to me. It’s meaningful to me because she took time to do it for me, and she is my sister, and that’s how I remember her from the painting. Becky was a great artist, and has done a lot of art work for people. It also means a lot because she thought of me, and wanted to do something special for me. Paintings are always a great memorable gift to people, because paintings can last for a long time. This painting is also really memorable to me because my stepsister Becky is kind of in a coma, so I really don’t get to see her that much anymore. She is at a nursing home and has many problems with her. When she was very little she had seizures and when she got older she didn’t take her medicine when she was supposed to. So it really messed her life up, and had many problems.

I remember when I was like eight years old; I went for Christmas to an uncle’s house (he was like my father). He gave me as gift a green book written in English, it was a tale about a frog, of course I didn’t speak English in that time, so I couldn’t read it, but like some month ago I found it, and I read it. I remember when my uncle gave that book, I was like, what? Why a book? But now that I don’t see him anymore because he lives in New York, now that I understand, not just what the book says, it is what the gift means. The tale is about a little frog that doesn’t have a father, so one day an old frog found him, and took him to live with him, and that old frog loved that little frog as his own son, and vice-versa. Now that makes me think about the meaning of his gift. If you give a gift with love, no matter how cheaper it is, the important is the feeling.

When my mom got breast cancer, it was pretty scary. Before her surgery, she gave my siblings and I a crossword puzzle to pass the time and take away some of the anxiety. It seemed so little, but with so much stress about her, she took the time to think of us. It really meant a lot to me.

Mitchell Holt 7th Period
Powerful free gifts

In” a Man Called Horse’’ the man receives a priceless gift after being treated like dirt for what seemed like an eternity. It’s called respect. After he gains this respect he gets to have a wife and freedom to come and go as he pleases. The only priceless gift I’ve ever received was from my parents. I have earned trust and freedom so that now I can have more fun and more freedom to go more places because I haven’t broken there rules.

A gift I received that was extremely valuable, but cost a little would be a hand-made necklace. Just the thought of that person giving me something, whether hand-made or not, means a lot. I know the necklace didn’t cost a lot but it was still very nice to get something. Plus, I love jewelry and I needed a necklace, so I was happy.
