Powerful, Free Gifts

October 3rd, 2007

Think of all the gifts you’ve received. In “A Man Called Horse” and “The Gift” one of the characters recieves a gift that is inexpensive or free but very important. Have you ever received a gift that was extremely valuable to you that had little monetary value? (Costs little – means a lot) Explain why it was so meaningful to you.

Some of the best gifts I have ever gotten have been inexpensive or free. I love getting artwork from my little sister for a present. One of my favorite free gifts came from my little sister. It was a beautiful drawing of my sister and me outside. We were walking down the sidewalk and holding hands. I thought it was so sweet of my sister to take the time to draw a picture just for me. The picture let me know that I was special to my sister and she loved me.

A very little gift can mean a whole lot. Such as, my grandfather gave me a stuffed animal when I was a little girl, and I have kept it since then. I always carried that little dog around all day. It meant so much to me. That little animal means a lot to me because my grandfather passed away and my animal reminds me of him. It also reminds me of all the good times we had together. Even though it is a very small gift, I wouldn’t change it for anything.

One powerful gift that was little in money value but big in sentimental value was a card that my best friend Meagan gave me. Meagan had made me a card of how thankful she was to have me as a friend and she wanted me to get better after being sick. This card meant a lot because it was handmade. It was also valuable because I could tell she spent a lot of thinking and time on it. The main reason it was valuable was because it was from someone I cared about.

When I was about five, my great-grandparents died in a car wreck. The summer before she died my grandma gave me an old silver locket. Inside was a picture of my grandma and grandpa. This means a lot to me because this is something that she gave to me and I can keep forever. It is also the only thing I have to remember her by.

Think of all the gifts you received. Gifts can be expensive, inexpensive or free. When you get a gift it is not how much it cost. It is the thought that count. I have received a gift that was very important to me. It was from my best friend. It was a friend ship necklace. It meant a lot to me, because she made it herself, it showed me that she cared about me, and it was from the heart. So, next time you received a gift remember it is the thought the count.

Have you ever received a gift that was totally free but it held so many memories and feelings that it was the best gift you ever received I have. I got to spend a whole day with my favorite uncle and we didn’t really do many things that were very special but it was the time that meant a lot. I have that memory forever and it can never be taken away from me.

There are many powerful free gifts in this world. One I received was walking in the Grand Canyon. It is the most spectacular experience of my life. I flew into it I a helicopter and was amazed. Once I was in it I did not have to pay to see the beautiful site. My breath was taken away by its beauty and size.

I have received a wonderful gift that hasn`t cost me a thing. She`s my best friend Christina. She is very special to me because she`s so loving and caring to me, and I can talk to her about anything and she always knows how to make me feel so happy. She`s so sweet to me, and does everything she can to make me happy. I love her very much and I`ll do anything for her. I wouldn`t give her up for anything in the world.

I have an angel in my room. This angel is very important to me because my dad gave it to me when I was a little girl. Knowing that he passed away, that angel helps me remember him. This angel is my door step, so I see it every day when I go into my room. I am going to keep it for the rest of my life.

IN a man called horse he got a bow. The bow allowed him to gain freedom. He was able to get food and everything instead of having to go kill with a knife. He had range so that up close he would have a chance of getting hurt and what not.

I have received a gift that was extremely valuable but inexpensive. My uncle tony gave me a bible. Tony gave me the bible when he was put in assistive living home. He was elderly, sick with polio, and needed medical attention. Tony didn’t have a lot of personal items so it means a lot to me when he gave me his bible. I never go to church, but that summer I attended the church quest to learn about the bible. When summer was over, I look at his gift as if it was a part of him that he gave me. I learned so much about the bible and I was so grateful for the gift that tony gave me.

I think when you received a gift or something from another person . I don’t think it matters how much it cost or how much it was or people thinks about the size .i think it matters with how much effort the person gave it to you or how important you take care of and what’s the value you give to the gift they have giving to you .how would you take care of it.

I got a gift one time from my mommy and it was nothing bug just a wooden bored with a saying on it. I never knew what it meant, and why my mom gave it to me. Until about 3 years ago. It means to stay strong no matter what. To always be yourself. Don’t let anyone get the best of you. Always know that God is by your side. And that no matter where you are you always have someone watching you and looking out for you. Now every day I read that as soon as I wake up and I have never forgotten to read it.

I’ve received many gifts that might not have cost a lot but meant a lot to me. Those are the best kinds of presents you could get. The whole point of a present is to show the person how much you care about them. If you have a lot of money and just go buy your friends expensive presents I don’t think that means as much as spending your time on making something or planning something very special. I know I much rather receive a present that a lot of effort was put into. For my birthday my best friend made me a present that was not very expensive but it meant so much to me that I didn’t care. When I get presents I look forward to meaningful things. Not material things.

Of all of the gifts I have received, my favorite gift was a locket that my grandmother gave me. Even though it isn’t very expensive, it means more to me than most of the gifts I have gotten. My grandmother was my dad’s mom, and she was a very influential person in my life. My dad’s dad died when he was very young, so she raised three boys and one girl by herself. She was a great mom, and a great grandmother. She passed away one year ago, and this gift means a lot more to me than any expensive gift.

There are many gifts that have little monetary value but can mean a lot to someone. I have received many basketball trophies and whether they were 1st place or 2nd place they meant a lot to me. Some people that are having a bad day can hear a simple “Hey” from a friend, which can make their day much better. Emmy awards, for big actors, and the Nobel Piece Prize, for people that do good things, don’t hold much value, but probably mean a lot to whoever received it. There are many gifts that aren’t even worth a dollar, but can mean the world of difference to someone.

I have received a lot of special gifts but my most special one is small to most people but not to me. For one of my birthdays my grandfather made me a little step stool. It’s very valuable to me in a sentimental way because he made it for me. I could never replace it and it would always remind me of him. One day I can give it to my child. He was the most thoughtful person I knew.

Have you ever gotten a gift that was cheap but it meant a lot to you? Well I have received a lot of gifts like that. Like this one time I received a very special note from best friend. She gave it to me for Christmas. The reason why is because she didn’t have any money to give me anything. I wish I still had the note right now to read every day. I was so happy to receive that note from her. That was the best Christmas present ever!

I enjoy it when a person gives me a gift; I especially enjoy it when it is something with little monetary value. I once received a gift from my parents. It was a book, a bible. My parents gave me a bible a long time ago. It was very important to me.

There are many times that my feelings change about something. I thought this girl was a real brat, then I had to work with her this summer, and I realized she had a great personality. We became good friends after two days together. I enjoy spending time with her. Now, I don’t judge a person before I get to know them for the most part.

The gift that received was a key from my ex-friend. It had a great impact on my life. The gift had great significance on my life. It stood for me having a hold on her heart and I’m the only one who had the key to open it. This gift showed passion and love.

I like it when somebody gives me a gift, even when the value isn’t much because it’s not the cost it’s the thought that counts. The one gift that I would have to say I could relate to the story is when my sister gave me a card for my birthday. The reason I chose this is because it was her birthday to so she clearly had plenty of money to buy me a gift or a card but no she decided to make me a card. I wasn’t mad though because like I said it’s not the cost it’s the thought that counts.

Gifts represent thoughtfulness and caring whether it has a high monetary value or not. Once, I received a gift from my aunt. Although it did not have a pricey value, I still cherished it with all my heat. The gift was so significant to be for two main reasons. When I received this gift, I knew it had come from love and she had once cherished it herself. For me to obtain a cherished item from another was truly honorable. These factors caused the gift to be ever so meaningful.

A very small gift could have a lot of value. The gift that I’ve received was this box of stuff from my grandmother a year ago. IT is very valuable to me because about 3 months later he passed away with cancer. It’s very special to me because I loved him so much and he gave it to me. HE was always so nice to everyone. In that box was money from different countries, and different rings, worth hardly nothing but it’s still special to me.

A gift I received that was extremely valuable, but cost a little would be a hand-made necklace. Just the thought of that person giving me something, whether hand-made or not, means a lot. I know the necklace didn’t cost a lot but it was still very nice to get something. Plus, I love jewelry and I needed a necklace, so I was happy.

In” a Man Called Horse’’ the man receives a priceless gift after being treated like dirt for what seemed like an eternity. It’s called respect. After he gains this respect he gets to have a wife and freedom to come and go as he pleases. The only priceless gift I’ve ever received was from my parents. I have earned trust and freedom so that now I can have more fun and more freedom to go more places because I haven’t broken there rules.

When my mom got breast cancer, it was pretty scary. Before her surgery, she gave my siblings and I a crossword puzzle to pass the time and take away some of the anxiety. It seemed so little, but with so much stress about her, she took the time to think of us. It really meant a lot to me.

I remember when I was like eight years old; I went for Christmas to an uncle’s house (he was like my father). He gave me as gift a green book written in English, it was a tale about a frog, of course I didn’t speak English in that time, so I couldn’t read it, but like some month ago I found it, and I read it. I remember when my uncle gave that book, I was like, what? Why a book? But now that I don’t see him anymore because he lives in New York, now that I understand, not just what the book says, it is what the gift means. The tale is about a little frog that doesn’t have a father, so one day an old frog found him, and took him to live with him, and that old frog loved that little frog as his own son, and vice-versa. Now that makes me think about the meaning of his gift. If you give a gift with love, no matter how cheaper it is, the important is the feeling.

The one thing that cost little, but meant a lot to me was a painting from my stepsister, Becky. She gave it to me for my 14th birthday, and it didn’t cost much, but it meant a lot to me. It’s meaningful to me because she took time to do it for me, and she is my sister, and that’s how I remember her from the painting. Becky was a great artist, and has done a lot of art work for people. It also means a lot because she thought of me, and wanted to do something special for me. Paintings are always a great memorable gift to people, because paintings can last for a long time. This painting is also really memorable to me because my stepsister Becky is kind of in a coma, so I really don’t get to see her that much anymore. She is at a nursing home and has many problems with her. When she was very little she had seizures and when she got older she didn’t take her medicine when she was supposed to. So it really messed her life up, and had many problems.

During and after hurricane Katrina, there was no plumbing. You would go around and see people using the bathroom in a garbage bag or grocery bag. So my friend and I were listening to music and we heard a funny song. A guy used the bathroom in the back part of the toilet and it came out. We thought it would work so we put pool water in the back and it worked. We started spreading the word around and it wasn’t so stinky anymore. The simple gift of flushing your toilet was all I needed.

I recieved a jar from my brother. It was to see howw good I can manage my money. He tought me how to save and spend. Instead of spending all of my money at the same time. He tought me how to save a bit of money, and give some to charity.

I got a present from my grandmother at Christmas. This gift was a manger scene with a star on a rod that an angel fell down. This is a gift that you could get at the dollar store but had tons of meaning to my life. Being a Christian this showed me that she cared for me and wishes me good luck for the rest of my life.

The Gifts I receive are very special, even better when they cost more, I won’t lie, but there are some gifts that just top everything. These gifts are the ones not bought with money, just ones that are special from a relative or parent. I remember a few years ago I got something from a grandpa I never met. It was a carved wood owl. It was made by him. My dad gave it to me because I had always looked at it. Even to this day that owl still sits on a shelf in my room. It reminds me of him.
